ON THE ROAD AGAIN

This past weekend we made a trip to West Virginia with our friends Melanie and Wayne Rosier, Terry, Vickie and Libby Timmerman. Marianne and I left early to drop off school supplies that were collected by Red Bank Baptist Church in Saluda.

We delivered the supplies to the Meadow Bridge Elementary School Friday afternoon. The school has 183 students according to Principal Andrew Tokarz. He was very excited that we brought the much needed supplies for the students. He also shared with us the many needs of the students in the area.

We then drove over to Donna Martin's to drop off some backpack items collected by Philippi Baptist Church in Johnston. These were intended for another ministry that we were unable to get in contact with. Donna will see that the chldren in the Danese School get these items as needed.

Saturday morning we traveled to Little Birch Baptist Church as this was the Saturday (Third) that food would be distributed to the folks in the area. As always, the day begins with a short worship service at 11:30.

(Melanie and Libby)

Melanie set up to cut hair in a room near the entrance to the building, and cut the hair of 40 people in four hours. Marianne and Vickie set up a table giving away tooth brushes, tooth paste, shampoo, soap, and other health related items as the people exited the building with their food.

Terry and Wayne met folks at the door with wagons in which they carried the food to their cars and trucks. Many times when the folks got ready to leave their vehicles wouldn't start so they were truly helping hands.

Libby carried along a table and chair set that she no longer had a need and she found a person he thought would enjoy it. At other times she was busy helping Melanie by keeping the hair swept and giving out the cookies that Melanie had brought.

Everyone had a wonderful experience being the Shepherds Hands to the people in the Little Birch area.

Saturday evening we traveled to Danese to Curtis and Donna Martins who had prepared dinner for us, What a blessing to sit and talk with Curtis and Donna about her ministry and the needs in the area. After dinner we went to the building we provided. It was the first time we had seen it since she began using it. She had it arranged and organized well with clothes.

I thank God for the ministry He has given us and look forward to every trip as we carry items of need to the people. This trip was very special because our friends were able to go with us. I know that they came away blessed.

Sunday morning we traveled to Meadow Bridge for services at Calvary Baptist Church, it was good to see the folks that I met last September while they were without a pastor. After the service we enjoyed a meal in the fellowship hall. After lunch we headed home looking forward to a nights rest in our own bed.

Our next trip will be the Friday before Thanksgiving as we will give out turkeys so that the folks can have a special Thanksgiving. This will be done at Mountain Market Place Mission in Webster Springs,WV with Gary and Lily Melton.

I will publish next week a copy of a letter I received from Lily this week. May God bless each of you for your faithful support from time to time - without you Marianne and I would not be able to carry out this ministry.
