Whirl Wind Trip

Whirlwind is right, 580 miles in one day! Marianne and I left yesterday morning at six for a trip to Bland Ministries in Bland, Virginia to deliver mostly summer clothes as we needed to get them into the hands of those in need.

We had the opportunity to meet Dee Dee Hoosier, the director at Bland, she filled us in on the many ministries going on there. They have a clothing ministry, food pantry, and dental clinic. We also gathered information from the volunteers who work in the clothing ministry.

Every place we go is completely different. At Bland they keep a record of every person who comes for clothes and they are allowed only forty pounds a year except in case of emergency. Last year they distributed 46,645 pounds of clothes to 12,563 individuals.

We covet your prayers concerning the building for Donna's Haven in Danese, WV. I keep getting the run around from the folks building it, every time I call it's gong to be next week and we should have received it four weeks ago. I guess being so far away doesn't help in getting things done. Please pray for it to be ready soon as we need it in place to get the winter clothes to Donna.

We are now in need of winter clothes, mainly for the school children. We need gently worn and new clothes plus school supplies. We also are in need of 100 new jackets of all sizes for the children in Ivydale as the schools will not let them bring in used jackets. We also need donations for food for the 300 children's back packs that are given to the children to carry home on the weekends, without the back packs they would have no food. Make your gifts payable to Philippi Baptist Church, West Virginia fund and mail to us. (Mayhew West, 412 Chapman Road, Saluda, SC 29138).

Thank you for your faithful support for our ministry in West Virginia.
