AND THE SNOW CAME DOWN

We got our taste of West Virginia weather last week as we were greeted on Thursday with six inches of snow in just two hours. We had no idea the impact until Friday morning when we attempted to go to Lowes and Wal-Mart and discovered that the interstate was closed. While we were stuck in the traffic jam we saw them removing the signs, Expressway Closed. In a very short time we made our way to our exit only to discover that the parking lots of both Lowes and Wal-Mart were filled with eighteen wheelers who had to spend the night.

Needless to say that not as many people were able to come to the mission on Saturday morning, way down from the 180 who came the week before Christmas. We enjoyed the fifty who came as we were able to spend more time with them and everyone was at ease and able to take their time.

By going up on Wednesday we were also able to complete some additional work on the building by completing another guest room and installing a wall behind the clothes closet with some much needed shelves. I’m so grateful for those who go from time to time to help with the ministry. But I don’t know what we would do without Brother Jerry who watches over our building and helps us each time we go.

The third Saturday of each month is the time that we have chosen to operate the mission. We want all who have been in the past and others to go whenever possible. What a blessing to be able to assist with clothes, food, personal hygiene items, household items, furniture and appliances. It’s our friends and supporters who make this ministry possible with your gifts.

We are now also reaching out to the folks in McDowell County which is the poorest County in West Virginia. Crystal and Richard come and pick up clothes for the people in their area. What a blessing to know that our ministry has expanded to other areas as well. I’m reminded of the Prayer of Jabaz which I have been praying for years. “O’ that you might bless me indeed, that you would enlarge my territory, that your hand would be upon me, that you would keep me from evil and that I may not cause pain”. 1 Chronicles 4:10; Every time I pray that prayer I am reminded of God’s faithfulness in enlarging our ministry.

To each of you we pray God’s blessing upon you in this New Year.
