Having just returned last Sunday night we were back on the road Wednesday to West Virginia, but this time to a place we had not been in fourteen months. The weather was cold, windy and wet, so bad that we didn't go out to eat Wednesday night. I walked across the street to KFC and picked up a snack.
Next morning we left early for the Lighthouse Mission in Ivydale, WV. We had planned to set up outdoors with tables beside the trailer but due to the rain we had to move indoors. Rick allowed us to set up in the cafeteria so after the folks came through the food line they could pick up clothes.
We soon learned that we should have carried two trailer loads to these people. It was so exciting to see them picking up the clothes. The smiles on their faces as they gathered clothes for their children and themselves. Our supply of sheets, blankets and spreads were gone within five minutes.
I had several pairs of shoes that came already packed up and when I opened them I wouldn't put them out. I put them back in the trailer. We told the folks that they could go through the trailer and get the clothes that were hanging on the racks but to leave the boxes alone. When we got ready to leave we discovered that the boxes had been opened and all the clothes taken including the old shoes that I wouldn't put out.
Our hearts were truly blessed to know that we were coming home empty handed, only to load the trailer again to return in a couple of weeks with additional clothes. Our greatest need at this time is children and baby clothing and coats.
We also dropped off a freezer at Little Birch on the return trip as they had one to go out. I didn't mention it earlier, but Rick saw the freezer at Ivydale and he needed it as they had one go out too. I informed him that it was already promised. I know that God will provide one for him, so we'll just make it a matter of prayer.
Continue your prayers for us, your missionaries to West Virginia.
