MISSION COMPLETED

We kept watching the weather forecast for West Virginia knowing that we needed to make our delivery by Thursday. This would be our last opportunity to carry the sugar before Christmas. It didn't look good, the forecast was for more snow plus sleet and rain. The need was there, the sugar was on hand, so I felt we must go.
We left Wednesday about 1:30 PM, the weather here was chilly but fine. We had no problem getting to Summersville, WV, where we were to stay for the night. The folks at the motel gave a very grim outlook for tomorrow, we even considered going over to the mission that night. So we tucked in for the night to wake up to the falling of snow and the prediction of ice. We had asked the Lord to hold back the ice until we could make our delivery.
After much discussion we set out on snow covered roads for the 32 mile journey to Mountain Market Place. In route we stopped at Dollar General in Craigsville, WV, to pick up 150 bags of sugar that had been prearranged for pick up and continued to our destination. Upon arrival we unloaded the 506 bags of sugar, an electric stove and the winter coats that were requested.
Not many had ventured out today for the food, but those who did come were given a bag of sugar along with the other items that had been bagged for them. As always it was a joy to see Gary and Lily and folks there who give of their time to the ministry.
I am so grateful for the churches and individuals who made this mission possible and for their faithful support of this ministry. Without churches and individuals we could not meet the needs of the people. I'm always afraid that I will leave out someone when I begin to name individuals and churches who have so graciously given. But thanks to all who gave, and to Josh McClendon, Tillman Sauls, and Terry Timmerman who accompanied me on this trip.
Many of you prayed for our safety and God responded by holding back the rain and ice while we got out of the area. Schools and Government as well as many business closed at noon on Thursday so their employees could get home before night. Our Father brought us home safely.

To each of you we wish a Merry Christmas, and pray God's blessing for a very fruitful year.

Mayhew
